New Fosters

January 13th, 2009

This Saturday we headed to La Hobra Heights to get a new foster dog. The dogs came from a trainer in Arizona who is very aware of getting his retired racers to rescue group. He drove them all the way from Arizona to California and told Joyce there would be more to come whenever GPA had enough room. Anyways, after we had been assigned to take home Scotty, the gorgeous brown and white, I got a call from The Cat People asking me to take in a kitten, which of course I gladly agreed to foster. So anyways, we now have two new fosters in the home!

Got some great pics this weekend!

Oat bran

January 2nd, 2009

Greyhounds can have loose stools and it can be hard to clean up. After trying canned pumpkin, which did help some, we decided to try oat bran. It works great! We have seen a great improvement in their stools, and they are much easier to clean up!

Vacation

January 1st, 2009

Been a little busy lately between school, work and family gatherings. Monty, one of our foster dogs got adopted. I will post his story!

By the Way

We are feeling kind of empty at the Clerico house right now. Five of my foster babies got adopted over the weekend. Bear, Buster, Bella, and Bozco all came to me still needing milk. I have had them for about three weeks and they were some of the SWEETEST kittens I have ever had. Lola, the black kitten, was found in the PETCO parking lot one day when I was helping out with adoptions. I am so happy they were all adopted into loving homes, but I will miss them very much.

Don’t make it harder on the people who have opened their home to animals. Don’t make it harder for homeless animals to find homes. Don’t make it harder on us during these rough times.

If you are interested in contacting our governor and telling him you oppose his proposal, please visit www.fastfriends.org. They have a letter written that all you need to do is add your name and sign.

Thank you!

Our New Fosters!

November 16th, 2008

After a calm day I am ready to blog about our new babies. We traveled to La Habra Heights to get ONE foster dog yesterday. Joyce, the head of So. Cal’s GPA, chose little Sheeba, a cat-safe silly girl.
New Foster: Sheeba

She is 2 years old and is very goofy. She does not have any anxiety so far and is very happy to be a retired racer.

New Foster: Monty

We met Monty on the way to the bathroom. He was just BEGGING us to take him home. He was a racer, then was taken to donate blood, and now he is with us. He is very skinny and has dry skin. We will get him all fixed up!

What an adventure!

November 16th, 2008

I just recently arrived home from a horrid car road trip. Katy (a greyhound friend of ours), my mother, and I set out from Bakersfield at 9:30 a.m. to go to La Hobra Heights (a two hour long trip). We were on a journey to get new foster greyhounds that were arriving to California today. It took us NINE HOURS. No joke! The fires have closed the highways and traffic is awful. But on a lighter note we did arrive to get our foster puppies and ended going up going home with two. I will post pictures tomorrow!

Oh and it only took about three hours to get home, which made it nicer.

I need sleep…..

Welcome!

Hello! My name is Courtney Clerico and I foster greyhounds and kittens. I have started this website so I can blog about my “Foster Tails” including tips and information that may help you as well. I would like this blog to become a place for animal lovers like myself!
